The foods you eat are one of the most important factors to balance your weight. Losing weight requires a mix of eating nutritious foods, cutting calories, and being physically active, but if your kitchen is stacked with diet-sabotaging junk foods, it makes it that much harder for you to shrink your waistline. Although the foods on this list seem harmless for weight gain, many of them have low calories and slow down your metabolism, which makes it harder for you to lose weight.

Sugary Drinks

Many beverages like sodas, fruit juice, tea, coffee and sports drinks having very high added sugars. They are strongly associated with weight gain and can have disastrous health effects when consumed in excess. Even though sugary drinks contain a lot of calories but do not help a person feel full, and you won't eat less food to compensate.

Many sodas are laced with high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). According to researchers at Princeton University, HFCS can cause as much weight gain as regular table sugar. In an animal study, 100% of the rats who consumed HFCS became obese. The study also found that rats who consumed other forms of sugar gained less weight than those who were fed HFCS, even when their overall caloric intake was the same.

Potato Chips and French Fries

Whole potatoes havings good nutrition content, so it is healthy and filling, but french fries and potato chips are not. They are very high in calories and easy to eat in large amounts, because of its taste.

In this cooking method adds a significant amount of fat and calories, many restaurants cook their fries in a deep fryer to give them a crispy texture. Deep-frying carbohydrates have been shown to yield a dangerous, carcinogenic chemical compound called acrylamide, which is associated with abdominal obesity.

People looking to lose weight should select a salad, fresh fruit, or a pickle instead of potato chips and french fries.

Diet Soda

Low-calorie doesn't necessarily mean low sugar. Artificial sweeteners are used in most of the diet sodas that give your body the same reaction to refined sugar. Artificial sweeteners have been linked to excessive long-term weight gain; a study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society found that people who drank diet soda regularly had nearly three times the amount of belly fat over a 9-year period compared to those who didn't drink diet soda.

White Bread

White bread is highly refined and often contains a lot of added sugar. Glycemic index is high in it and can spike your blood sugar levels. If you can't avoid bread then there are many alternatives for it such as brown bread which is easily available. One is Ezekiel bread, which is probably the healthiest bread on the market.

Candy Bars

Candy bars contain a lot of added sugar, added oils and refined flour into a small package. It is high in calories and low in nutrients. An average-sized candy bar covered in chocolate can contain around 200–300 calories, and extra-large bars may contain even more. Unfortunately, you can find it everywhere easily. They are even strategically placed in stores to attract people towards it. You can make alternatives for it like fruits, dry fruits.

Pastries, Cookies, and Cakes

This is one of the most favorite foods for people with most unhealthy ingredients like added sugar and refined flour. It also contains artificial trans fats, which are very harmful and linked to many diseases. It also can't make you feel full so you become hungry very quickly after eating these high-calorie, low-nutrient foods.

Ice Cream

Ice Cream is an incredibly delicious, but high-sugar, high-calorie dessert that offers very little protein and no fiber. A small quantity of ice cream is fine but the problem is that it's very easy to consume massive amounts in one sitting.

You can make your own ice cream, using less sugar and healthier ingredients like full-fat yogurt and fruit, but serve yourself a small portion.

Pizza

Pizza is a very popular fast food but also very unhealthy. They are extremely high in calories and also contain unhealthy ingredients like highly refined flour and processed meat. If you want an alternative for this unhealthy pizza you can make it at your home with healthier ingredients.

White rice

White rice contains very low fat and also less fiber and protein. Studies identified a link between white rice consumption and obesity. So you can use brown rice, quinoa, and cauliflower rice as a healthful alternative to white rice.

To lose weight or maintain a healthful weight, it is important to avoid highly processed junk foods. These foods have to remove from our daily diet. The foods which contain more sugar, more fats, having fewer nutrients with high calories, highly processed must avoid.
